Attached is the Xmas attendance list as of 12/8/2008.
Hello Everyone,
I thought I would give everyone an update about the party as a lot has changed.
Dean was able to send me an updated paid list (thanks Dean) and therefore, a budget. After some number crunching, I discovered that we can afford a real nice catered dinner. Not the level of service I had envisioned, but it is the meal that I picked out. Best of all, I don’t have to cook! I have to pick the meal up from Back Forty and I will need some help setting the buffet up. It should not be much of a problem.
I have purchased all the gifts for the ladies and have secured info (donations) and items for their raffle. The wife and I found some great deals on some nice candles/incenses items at Linens & Things, enough for everyone with a reservation. The plan is to talk someone friendly, adventurous, and fun (Wendy Galli) into running a gift game for the women, during which we will have the guys raffle. Here’s the deal; each lady will get a numbered card and one raffle ticket when they arrive. The gifts will be picked out and opened by number (number one gets first choice and so on). The next number gets to choose whether they want the first person’s gift (or any other opened gift) or get a wrapped gift from the table. If a gift is lifted from someone who has already picked, they get another turn. With some luck this should spur talk and laughter. There will be three paid raffle prizes for the ladies. They can pull numbers after the gift exchange game.
While the women are having fun, we will be gambling on a full paid raffle. We have more than enough great prizes that should generate some raffle sales. Good thing cause the women’s gifts were paid on my bet that we can sell some tickets for the men’s raffle. I spent about three hundred bucks on the ladies gifts out of pocket. So if we can sell that many tickets, hopefully we can re-pay the pocket. If not, we’ll call it a donation. Maybe I should have run this by everyone first, but I want to make this party fun for everyone. I don’t think it will be a problem selling that many tickets, anything over goes to the club. I feel this party will still be able to maintain a self-supporting budget.
The music and all other festivities are as planned.
I will keep everyone of the board members updated weekly.
Thanks,
Robert V. Blum
